Pig iron Plant for punjab -- The Punjab Government has tentatively selected a site near Satrog village in Hissar district for the setting up of a public sector pig iron plant which will have a capacity of one lakh tons annua-lly. According 'to a technical expert of the Punjab Government, the plant, estimated to cost Rs 4 crdres, will be commissioned in 1966. It is also proposed to set up at this site a thermal plant at a cost of Rs l crore. Waste gas from the blast furnace of the pig iron plant will be used as fuel for the running of the thermal plant. Deposits of three million tons of iron ore have been discovered in the adjoining Mahendragorh district. Limestone, another raw material needed for the plant, is also available in the same district.
