Pig iron Plant for punjab -- The Punjab Government has tentatively selected a site near Satrog village in Hissar district for the setting up of a public sector pig iron plant which will have a capacity of one lakh tons annua-lly. According 'to a technical expert of the Punjab Government, the plant, estimated to cost Rs 4 crdres, will be commissioned in 1966. Deposits of three million tons of iron ore have been discovered in the adjoining Mahendragorh district. Limestone, another raw material needed for the plant, is also available in the same district. One and a quarter lakh tons of coke would be needed annually to meet the needs of the plant.
