Abstract
A technique for producing silver catalyst has been developed in the National Metallurgical Laboratory. It consists of two main steps, namely (i) electrodeposition of fine silver powder, and (ii) agglomeration of the silver powder into porous granules. Activity of the product as catalyst has been tested and encouraging results have been obtained in terms of conversion efficiency of methyl alcohol to formaldehyde, as well as the resistance of the catalyst to sintering at the reaction temperature.
