Abstract
The paper deals with the results of chemical processing of graphite sample from Palamu. district. Jharkhand. The low grade run-of mine sample was initially concentrated by froth flotation which was followed by purification of flotation concentrate by acid and alkali leaching under varying process conditions. The hydrofluoric acid resulted in improvement in fixed carbon content to 97.8% in the flotation concentrate. On the other hand processing of the sample by alkali roasting followed by hydrochloric acid leaching gave product with 98.4% fixed carbon..
