Abstract
The fragility of ore depends upon its strength. In a crushed product or mining product, the fragile ore degen-erate to a undesirable fine product during blasting, excavation, loading and transportation. Similarly in a crushing and comminution process by crusher, ball mill or rod mill, as the ore of high strength attains to a desired size, the fragile ore degenerates to superfine. Knowledge of ore grindability well in advance of actual mining to accurately predict future rate of mine production and mill production. The fragile ore dropped from the top of the blast furnace may lead to the fines generation, blocking the pore space in the load resulting in the lowering of gas permeability and reduction process. So, engineering characteristics of ore is important to be ascertained by an engineer.
