Abstract

ASTM T11 material is a 1.25Cr - 0.5 Mo steel. This material is used in water wall tubes for sub-critical and super critical boilers in a thermal power plant. It is also used in re-heater, primary super-heater tubing system and in main steam piping system depending upon the expected temperature. Adhunik Metaliks Limited (AML), Sundargarh, Orissa, manufactured the above mentioned material and sent CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory for evaluation of elevated temperature tensile, stress rupture and creep properties at 500 o C, 550 o C and 600 o C. They sent the ASTM T11 material in the form of round bars which were normalized at 920 o C for 2 hours and tempered at 700 o C for 1.3 hours.
