Abstract
The object of ladle refining of steel is to enable us to carry out some metallurgical refining operations: - faster - with higher yields, - with better reproducibility - to meet special requirements for the products. A very promising method for treatment of liquid steel in the ladle is by powder injection. Since the beginning of MEFOS in 1965 and especially since 1972 work has been carried out on the development of this corporative res-earch project for the Scandinavian steel industry.
