Abstract
General synopsis of the reasons leading to the intro-duction of ladle metallurgy and a summary of literature dealing with the use of calcium and magnesium to delu-sphurize steel. Description of the Klockner Stahltechnik plant concept for ladle metallurgy, consisting of a disulphurisation plant with an injection vessel, a container unloading system, lance manoeuvring equipment and a specially-desi-gned lance for up to 50 treatments, as well as a ladle cover. Also the micro-alloying plant, e.g. with three injection vessels and nine weighing bins for alloying media such as aluminium, carbon, ferro-titanium or ferro-boron.
