Abstract

Indications to the importance of the mixing of slag and steel and to the improved mechanism of slag formation on bottom blowing with oxygen-lime powder injection compared to the LD process. Oxygen bottom-and top blowing with and without injection of lime powder. Increase of the scrap rate by partial combustion of the off-gases in the conv-erter, by preheating of scrap with the aid of bottom blowing tuyeres and/or injection of coal or coke into the melt (KMS process). Selection of the blowing process.
