Abstract

In February 1976 the Societe Lorraine de Laminage Continu (SOLLAC) of France decided to inves t in a new steel plant with two LWS converters of 240t to replace the old Kaldo and Open Hearth furnaces. Also two slab continuous casting machines were ordered in 1977. The slabs are intended for the production of cold rolled sheet (deep drawing, enameling) hot rolled sheet (deep drawing, structural steel, wheel discs and rims for cars), black plate, tinplate and tin free steel.
