Abstract
The sand sample, collected from the bed of the river Ganga near Hardwar, was recieved through the Ordanance factory, Muradnagar. Deposits of this sand belong to the Pliocene and Miocene strata of the Upper Tertiary system. As recie-ved, the sand was light grey in colour and contained perceptible amounts of mica.
