Abstract
Barite, which is an industrial mineral is commericially known as heavy spar and is the natural source of Barium compounds. An attempt has been made in this paper to present briefly the mode of occurence, usages, industrial specifications, mineralogical characteristics and benef-iciation aspects of this mineral. The results of benef-iciation studies carried out at NML on some typical samples, have also been discussed.
