Abstract

In this study, by using Eshelby's method, the elastic strain energy for an oblate spheroidal shaped martensite phase grain has been calculated as a function of aspect ratio (B) and lattice orientation. From the minimums of strain energy, habit plane of the martensite phase has been determined and the model has been applied to Ti alloys.
