Abstract
The utilisation of the indigenous ores and minerals to the fullest extent is imperative for the progress and development of the metallurgical and mineral industries of the country. Following this maxim, the National Metallurgical Laboratory right from its inception, has been engaged on the beneficiation of indigenous low-grade ores and minerals to make them suitable for metallurgical and allied industries. Beneficiation of fluorspar occupies an important position in the research programme of the National Metallurgical Laboratory as it is an essential raw material for the manufacture of hydrofluoric acid and crylite which are used in chemical, steel and aluminium industries. Fluorspar deposits from Rajasthan were earlier beneficiated and the flow sheet developed was recommeded to Government of Rajasthan for its utilisation.
