Abstract
The present century has been the phenomenal growth of non-ferrous metals and their multitude alloys for a wide range of service condition. The Second World War in its train gave a tremendous stimulus to the development of non-ferrous metals and their alloys both in production output and range of service requirement. In the case of India, the impetus in the field of metal production has started during the successive Five Year Plan periods after attai-ning Independence.
