Abstract
AMONGST the divers facets of fundamental research and equally dispersed themes of applied research in metall-urgical fields, the subject of `Micro-Metallurgy' perhaps provides the 'missing link'-- missing in the sense that it has relatively escaped the metallurgical limelight, even though unobtrusively providing the 'link' between theory and the practice in the growth of a vast array of specia-lized ferrous and non-ferrous alloys in current usage.
