Abstract
US, UK consortium aid for 5th state steel plant -- The Anglo-US steel consortium is understood to have agreed in principle to assist the Union Government' in setting up the fifth State steel project. The offer of the consortium is 'to aid and construct' the project with full association of Indian engineering and construction skill and maximum utilisation of indigenous equipment and materials. The consortium will submit its recomm-endations on the choice of the site in near future. The intention is that the consortium will review and analyse the existing reports on Goa-Hospet, Billadila-Visakhapatnam and Salem-Neyveli. It has been agreed that the consortium will proceed with detailed project study only after the Union Government has indicated the site.
