The Encouragement of Productive Research

Abstract

I SHOULD like first of all to say how much Mr. A. Jackson and I appreciate the assistance given by Dr. B. R. Nijha-wan and his colleagues in arranging our visit to India. We would at the same time like to congratulate you on your very fine laboratory. Ten years or so ago I was asked whether I would do an article for the English journal "Research" on refractories materials. I replied that I was at the moment much more excited about another subject., viz., "The Human Factor in Industrial Research". As a result I wrote an article on this topic and having become increasingly interested in the subject have lectured a number of times on the para-llel theme of "The Encouragement of Productive Research".
