Abstract
Low-load blast furnace for iron smelting - The increase in the production of iron all over the world has resulted in considerable depletion of high grade iron ore and coking coal. Alternative methods of iron production with inferior grade of raw materials have, therefore; received much atte-ntion in recent years and a number of alternative rocesses e.g. electric Smelting—process, the sponge iron process, rotary furnace -process,- and low-shaft furnace are in operation. Amongst the different techniques the low-shaft, furnace process is a, latest development and possesses. some attractive features. But its low height leads to a high temperature gradient, reduction in the reaction time and presence of high carbon monoxide in the exit gas.
