Abstract
The National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) is the weave of the dreams and passions of several people who had the desire to dream and courage to chase those dreams. It is a story that encompasses, inspiration, courage, grit, zeal, joy, sorrow, disappointment and extraordinary commitment to rise to the material needs of a country, rich in heritage and legacy. The visionaries and foot soldiers of NML worked tirelessly to create an institution founded on science and technology, which was ahead of its time at birth, sustained the vicissitudes of time through sixty years and continues to flourish and be relevant.
