Coke is an essential raw material for the manufacture of iron by the conventional blast furnace technique. Due to the paucity of reserves of high grade, coking Coals suitable for the production of metallurgical coke a rational use of these types of coals and utilization of increasing proportions of substandard coals for coking are receiving seriqus consideration in most countries in the world.
