Abstract
IT is known from the literature that a whole range of copper-base alloys are already being cast in horizontal continuous casting plants.1,2,3 Continuous casting plants with horizontal moulds have several basic economic adva-ntages when compared to their vertical counterparts. In particular, compared with vertical continuous casting plants their cost of purchase, installation and operation as well as the floor area requirements are much less. On the other hand, different solidifying conditions arise basically because of the horizontal arrangement of the mould.
