Abstract

Wrought aluminium alloy in particular to 7xxx series is a heat treatable alloy. The 7075 aluminium alloy is specifically use for making the sheets of aeroplane and automotive body panels of racing cars. In the study, 7075 aluminium alloy was cold rolled, annealed and aged in three different steps. The 7075 aluminium alloy is dominated by Zn and Mg. At hot rolled condition, the grains are elongated and coarser. The precipitates found at the grain boundaries are dominated by Mg, Zn and Si, whereas the precipitate found within the grain is dominated by Zn and Cu in hot rolled condition. Grains become finer and finer after each step of heat treatment. The precipitates found at the grain boundaries are dominated by Mg and Zn, whereas the precipitate found within the grain is dominated by Zn, C and Na in cold rolled + annealed and aged condition.
