Abstract
Cupola is a melting furnace used for melting Cast irons for the production of grey cast iron castings, malleable iron castings and ductile iron castings. The word cupola is the diminutive of the latin word "Cupa" meaning cask, due to the fact that cupola was just like a cask. The first design of the modern cupola was made by John
Wilkinson and took patent in 1794. This was followed by several .designs by Poumay, Moore, Piwonarsky, Griffin
and MBC hot blast cupola.
