Abstract

This investigation was undertaken on behalf of the Tata Locomotive & Engineering Company Limited, Tatanagar, to investigate the suitability of beneficiated quartzite both for use in moulds and cores. The sand sample and other necessary raw materials for this investigation were supplied by the frim. As received, the sample was in the form of lumps, 5 to 6 inches in size, which were crushed and beneficiated in the Ore Dressing Division of the National Metallurgical Laboratory prior to investigation into the moulding characteristics.
