The mullitisation of bladed Kyanite at elevated temperature and the volume changes accompanying this transformation are studied in .The recrystallisation is described. Optimum temperature for calculation and firing are suggested. The mineralogical break-down of associated muscovite at higher temperatures is studied and the effect of its presence on the refractory properties of Kyanite is dealt with.
