Abstract

During the last decade important advanced have been made both in the theoretical as well as experimental fields of the powder metallurgy. Several investigators have attempted to explain the phenomenon taking place during sintering and establish the laws governing this process. This has undoubtedly broadened the knowledge of the process but there are still divergences of opinion regarding the actual mechanism operating during sintering. This is easily understood in view of the complex nature of this process which is governed by many variables not easily separable from one another, amongst them the most important are time and temperature. Other factors such as compacting pressure size and shape of the powder particle, state of in surface, etc., also effect the process but to a lesser extent.
