Refractories for Steelmaking

Abstract

Thankyou Mr. Chairman, The six papers that we have for this morning fall into three categories. Three of the papers describe the refractory practice in Eurpean steel plants and two of them compare the experience in India with what is going on abroad and some experimental work on refractory dolomites that are available in our country. In the third category falls the paper from Flogates which covers a little about the ladle refractories and discusses at length the flogates design and the advances that are made in this regard. The particular session dovetails into the previous session of this morning very nicely because while discussing the raw materials in that ocassion there have been some references to the refractory problems that arise.
