Abstract
For a gas-starved coal rich country such as India, the benefits of DRI can be achieved only by using reductants other than natural gas, that is coal, in one form or another. Rotary kiln plants using non-coking coal as the solid reductant/fuel have sprung up around the country 2,3,4 based on SL/RN, ACCAR as well as TDR processes.
