Abstract
Standardization has been defined as the process of formu-lating and applying rules for an orderly approach to specific activity for the benefit and with the co-operation of all concerned and in particular for the promotion of optimum overall economy taking due account of functional co-ordination and safety requirements. The role of research in such a defination of standardization on the face of it appears somewhat obtrusive but on rational analysis and study it would emerge as a vital guiding and dominating factor.
