Abstract
Some Aspects of the Sampling and Analysis of Ferro Alloys -- SINCE the purpose of a ferro alloy is to add precise amounts of alloying elements to iron and steel or to react with impurities, its composition must be known accurately. Chemical analysis is misleading unless the sample is truly representative.The sampling of ferro alloys is beset with difficulties due to segregation and the physical nature of the material. Procedures for the sampling of various types of alloy are outlined, and it is emphasised that these are better carried out at the supplier's works than after delivery.
