Abstract
Technological advancements based on research and development techniques in the production of ferro-alloys have been phenomenal since the advent of the present century, in range, types and characteristic qualities demanded. The rapid growth of the ferro-alloy industry in different parts of the world has in turn led to the attain-ment of current steel production targets which touched an all time record of over 355 million ingot tons in 1960 representing an increase of about 11% over the figure of 320 million ingot tons in 1959. These production trends are maintaining their upward curve which in turn imposes equally exacting demands on the ferro-alloy industry in terms of rigid quality criteria, range of output and econo-mics of production.
