Abstract
Austenitic stainless steels are subjected to severe stress and high-temperature conditions in many of their applications, and also during shaping and fabrication. These treatments have a profound influ- ence on their final structure, affecting their phys- ical, metallurgical and corrosion-resistance proper- ties. For the prevention of such structural changes, it is essential to have detailed knowledge of the structural relationship of different phases formed during mechanical and thermal treatments.
