Abstract

A simple theoretical analysis has been carried out to understand the behaviour of liquid lead base alloys. Consideration of excess free energy of mixing, solute position in the periodic table and size factor (ratio of Glodschmidt atomic diameters) has shown that lead-solute systems fall into the class of regular solutions only in the low concentration range.
