Abstract

Spectrographic methods employing solution technique using synthetically prepared standards with particular reference to the development and preparation of different electrodes and their applications in the quantitative analysis of alloying and residual elements in some metals, alloys and ferro-alloys have been described in this paper. Four different techniques, viz. rotating disc, solution cup, porous cup and oxide/powder arc techniques for the determination of alloying elements in low alloy steel, boron in steel, aluminium in steel, magnesium in nodular cast iron, alloying elements in aluminium alloys, antimony in solders and residual elements in ferro-alloys have been discussed in detail with precision of each method.
