Mechanical behaviour of Fe-18Ni maraging alloys have been studied by partially substitution of Ni by Mn. Age hardened Fe-12 Ni-5Mn-8Co-4Mo/Ti alloys showed tensile strength of the order of 100 tons/in2. With satisfactory ductility and impact properties. Higher manganese and lower nickel alloys showed lower tensile strength with better ductility and impact values, although response to age hardening become lesser. Ti caused embrittlement in these alloys in presence of Mn. (Dr. J.K Mukherjee, Scientist, National Metallurgical Laboratory)
