Abstract

Fluo-solid roasters are increasingly employed for the roasting of zinc sulphide concentrates to produce a calcine containing zinc oxide. The roasting conditions are so chosen as to have a small percentage of zinc as sulphate to make up any losses in SO4 ions during purification steps for the electrolysis. Attempt is made here to ascertain the conditions under which the normal sulphate and zinc oxide are formed during roasting. (Shri S.R. Srinivasan, Scientist and Shri P.P.
