Abstract
The manufacture of steel involves the huge amount of energy in an integrated steel plant. The cost and productivity of steel making process largely depends on the quality and consistency of hot metal produced by the blast furnace and its subsequent refining. Blast furnaces account for major production of hot metal throughout the world. The energy saving measures in an integrated steel plant includes the measures related to iron making in blast furnace and steel making during desiliconization, dephosphorization, desulphurization, decarburization and ladle refining. The paper discusses the salient features of energy saving measures in an integrated steel plant.
