Abstract

The alloys of iron-nickel-aluminium obtained after sintering at 1200 °C, 125 °C, 1300 °C and 1350°C were studied for their destiny, specific resistance, coercive force and remanence. It was found that the destiny increased with an increase in time and temperature of sintering and finally reached a constant value above a temperature of 1300°C, with two hours of soaking. The specific resistance in general, decreased with time at all temperatures of sintering. There was, however an abrupt decrease in the specific resistance in the initial stage of sintering upto temperature of 1250°C.On the basis of these observations, it has been concluded that densification in the initial stage of sintering is very rapid as compared to the latter stages. It has also been inferred that sintering of these alloys is a two-stage process at temperature upto 1250°C and a single-stage process at higher temperatures. Magnets sintered at 1350°C had a coercive force of 400 oersteds and remanence 4200 gauss approximately.
