Abstract
Construction materials are critical to the development of infrastructure and with the ever increasing population and deteriorating environmental conditions, need for new materials which are energy efficient and environment-friendly is on the rise. Fly ash comprises of the fine particulate matter that rise with the flue gases from combustion of carbonaceous matter, typically coal [1]. It is one of the major waste products of the thermal power plants. It is categorized mainly into two categories according to ASTM C618 standards as follows:
Class F fly ash : Fly ash having lime(CaO) content less than 20% by weight
Class C fly ash : Fly ash having lime(CaO) content more than 20% by weight
