Abstract
Much of what we know about the fundamental nature of matter
can be related, either directly or indirectly, to some form of spectroscopic observation. The discovery of quantum theory for example, is a direct consequence of spectroscopic observation. In the area of chemical anal-ysis, spectroscopic measurements have been used for quali- tative and quantitative analysis at both trace and ultra-trace levels. As a result of the wide application of spec-troscopic data, the techniques and principles of exper-imental spectroscopy are of interest to a wide variety of research workers.
