Abstract
ALUMINIUM as is known today was first evolved simult-aneously by Paul L. T. Heroult in France and Charles Martin Hall in Oberlin, USA, 82 years ago. Some years
back the Italian journal, `Alluminio' reported in its January 1961 issue, that a Chinese publication claimed that aluminium was found alloyed with copper and silver
in fragments of a metal belt found in the tomb of Ts'in dynasty in Kiangsu province of Eastern China between 3rd and 6th century A. D. Under chemical and spectroscopic
analysis further evidence would result in a reorientation
of concepts of its origin leading to a trail much earlier
than hitherto suppposed in the evolution of this light
metal.
