Abstract

Forging of powder preforms is a modern preforms is a modern technique that paves the gap between normally produced powder metallurgy parts and high quality forgings. The present paper outlines the basic hot forgings characteristics of iron powder preforms. Preforms made of hydrogen reduced iron powder were sintered and then hot-forged at various temperatures in the range of 800°C to 1100°C. The highest value of hardness and density were observed on specimens hot forged in the ferritic range.
