Abstract
Infrared spectroscopy has been applied to study the adsorbed species on lead minerals. It is found from the galena surface that the adsorbed species consist of multilayers of lead Xanthate irrespective of xanthate or dixanthogen adsorbed. On anglesite the absorbed species consist of a complex mixture of Pbx2 and x2. In order to investigate the interaction between lead xanthate (Pbx2) and Dixanthogen (X2) an attempt has been made to study the IR spectra of mixtures of Pbx2 and Dx in different molar ratios of 3:1 to 1:3. The cause for the absence of dixanthogen band has been explained. (Dr. M.S. Prasad, Scientist, National Metallurgical Laboratory)
