Abstract

Gel kept at room temperature dries up into scale. It dries up quickly but with soluble magnesia dopant the rate is considerably reduced. Gel has a fine network and their cluster and is non-crystalline reveals TEM, DSC however shows a transition temperature 273 C from amorphous to crystalline state of the alumina gel. Gel dried at 400 C shows the presence of the lower forms of alumina by XRD. Bonding alumina with alumina gel, alumina has to be dispersed in gel and dried insitu till plasticite exists followed by forming and sintering.
