Abstract

Present paper reports studies on corrosion behaviour of mild steel in calcium-hypochlorite solution. Mechanism of corrosion reaction has been discussed and kinetic electrochemical parameters have been derived from polarisation curves. Corrosion rates, obtained from linear polarisation and weight-loss data, are observed to be independent of chloride but increase with hypochlorite concentration. These variations have been discussed or the basis of reaction mechanism.
