Testing of Acetofloats received from M/s. Aceto Chemicals Ltd., Calcutta

Abstract

The National Metallurgical Laboratory has been engaged in testing the indigenous floatation reagents manufactured by M/s. Aceto Chemicals Ltd., Calcutta, during the investigation studies and also employed some of their Acetofloats viz., Ethyl & Amyl xanthates as collectors during the pilots pant tests with Jadugoda Uranium ore. The tests results were found to be satisfactory indicating the effectiveness of the indigenous reagents. The present report pertains to the testing of Acetofloats 1 and 3 (Potassium Ethyl Xanthate and Sodium Isopropyl Xanthane) received from the firm and the results obtained compare favourably with those of standard imported aeroxanthates. Hence these indigenous floatation reagents could be used as substitute reagents in place of the imported variety.
