Abstract

The Sand Sample received from the Geological Survey of India is reported to have been collected from a fairly big deposit at Girphala in the Dubchururia area in the District of Purulia, West Bengal. This sand was investigated at the NML Foundry Station, Industrial Estate, and Howrah with a view to studying its suitability for foundry moulding purposes. The sand was white in colour in the as-received condition and is a crushed quartzite.
