Abstract

A simple analytical method for the determination of boron in steeels using a computational technique for elimination of interferences is reported. It has been observed that iron, nickel, chromium, aluminium and vanadium depress the boron signal whereas manganese, titanium, and molybdenum enhance it. Silicon and niobium have no effect. A multi-parametric linear regression model was used to estimate the observed interferences and using this model, the boron content (0.0008-0.0118%) in steels has been estimated.
