Abstract

The paper records the results of the process developed for producing low carbon ferro-chrome from high carbon ferro-chrome. The process consists in mixing together molten ferro –chrome and ferro-silicon whereby carbon is eliminated and burns to carbon monoxide. The chrome-silicon removal with a chromium rich slag made separately. The power requirements of the silicide formation have also been worked out.
